Tall T Dan Presents: Downs Rail and Doublekinks (2024 Recap)

The 8th annual Down Rails & Doublekinks at Sugarbush Parks was met with wonderful weather and many smiling faces. It’s been 6 years since I commandeered the event with my loud voice and cardboard boxes. Each time it gets better and better. With over 150 participants, this year was definitely the largest turn out.

Catching Up With Karl Fostvedt, heading back to the streets & Red Bull Infinite Lines

This contest is a little more freestyle, but it just seems like such a cool setup. The name says it all, Infinite Lines! You won Kings & Queens of Corbets a couple of times? Yeah, two wins there and one 2nd place. For the last seven years thats basically been the only event that works for me. Looking at snowboarding, with Natural Selection, thats where I really hope that ski contests will go....

Salomon Depart 1.0 Worth the Hype?

When I was growing up, Salomon was everywhere in freeskiing. Turns out we can, and they’ve rocked up with a whole different philosophy. I rode the Depart 1.0 for about 20 days, most of which were spent in the Blackcomb park. It’s kind of like how the Edollo is super buttery but still survives trips to the Gucci Plateau. because the Depart 1.0 is not like anything I’ve skied before....

Second Look-2024 Line Bacon 108

Before skiing these, I wasnt expecting them to be a whole lot different. Luckily my first day on these at COP proved my assumptions to be completely wrong. Looking at the skis, my first impression of their quality was good. The topsheet is textured, the sidewalls are very thick and vertical, and the edges are visibly fat. On an arbitrary stiffness rating, Id give them about a 4.5. I think that this is due to their thick vertical sidewall underfoot in combination with their wider profile....

Is this the Ultimate Independent Ski Resort Road Trip?

Clickbait title aside, this is not that trip. This is not that article. As a euro who rarely flies, the US IS fairly far-flung to me. Planning level 0, exoticness level -100. And of course, last season it was pretty easy to find. I was slightly injured all trip (as always) so mostly I took photos and complained. Our trip started at DIA, picking up a truck and hitting the road....

MASTER SHREDDER 2024

Jake Johnsons textbook blunt grab The 13th edition of Master Shredder radiated with immaculate vibes. While the features may have been smaller compared to previous years, the level of tricks certainly were not. Just in past years, the competition unfolded in three heated rounds. Athletes from all over came to Master Shredder. Regardless of the difficulty or skill level, every rider was pushing their limits and throwing down in style....
