Jossi Wells is the epitome of free skiing. We know all too well that the judges have a pretty specific criterion they are looking for. But with Jossi being the way he is; this doesnt phase him. Unfortunately for him, being the fan favorite doesnt always translate to standing atop the podium. But fortunately for us, were left with the footage: the stuff of legend. All blacked out and hood over the helmet, mobbing down the pipe....
The tower drop at the beginning is beyond stupid but the rest was kind of cool I guess. And all the rest of the week’s highlights came in audiovisual format. Chief among them was The Bunch dropping the movie from their most excellent Indian adventure. The film is one of my favourite bits of ski media I’ve seen in a long time.Watch it! Then unwind/spin hard while doing the swop and just land on the rail and continue the rotation. Flat boxes are also good. Warm up with some FS Swops to Switch. Lock/Scissor the feet a bit and jump. Just twist the feet 180 while the upper-body is pointing towards the landing. This way of doing it is great for Super Fed. Try doing this both natural and unnatural and see what works the best for you....

With a combination of the wet snow causing avalanche danger in steeper areas of the resort, combined with lift issues (then mechanics getting sleds stuck on their way to fix said issues)- it was safe to say the mountain needed a time-out from the madness....

The award is named in memory of the first president of the U.S. Ski Writers Association, the predecessor of NASJA. Two years ago this award merged two prior awards, the Carson White Golden Quill and the Lifetime Achievement.

Everyone is absolutely on top of the game but I’ve yet to be convinced Dollo is human. Magnus wins the invite announcement prize though. But my first choice is a no brainer. The Hood Crew dropped their full movie and it was everything you wanted and more. People are so stoked on it that even the trailer alone made the Month’s top rated videos. Whether you love them or loathe them, competitions in skiing are struggling. There are signs the whole concept of progressing a career through competition is falling apart from the bottom up. “Who cares?” I hear you ask and more importantly “why do you care? You hate comps anyway”. As that exhibition, I feel they should represent contemporary skiing. Enter Andy Parry, opinionated and outspoken but undeniably down for the grassroots of the sport....
