Women’s slopestyle finals opened bright and early this morning. 15 finalists dropped in to a much softer and sunnier course after yesterday’s foggy snowstorm. On her second run Jamie Crane-Mauzy under-rotated a double backflip and had to be sledded off the course....

In third place today was Kim Lamarre. She is riding the Future Spin with Attack 13 bindings. For boots Kim has been rocking Full tilts for years and has no plans to change. In second today was Kattie Summerhayes. And your winner today, Whistler’s own Yuki Tsubota. Yuki rides for K2 and was using the 2016 Missconduct with FKS 140 bindings. Her boots were interesting as she was wearing the Lange XT 110....

Lucas mastery of big tricks combined with his huge amplitude pushed his score to the top. Stoked on his performance, Luca explained, It feels fantastic to win. Last year I was second and this year Im first, so it really cant be better. The jump was perfect and I got to try two doubles… man, it was awesome. The day started early with practice and moved on to two elimination heats to thin out the pack. Chris Laker, Simon D’Artois and Elias Ambuehl rounded out the qualifiers from Heat One. After a brief consultation, finals were postponed until tomorrow morning before the Big Air Comp. We’ll be back then with an update as soon as results hit the board....

Today is the first day of competition in whistler with the slope athletes taking to the course. After bluebird skies yesterday the weather has turned today but the riders are still going hard.

Regardless, if you ski in adverse conditions you probably put something over your face. This fall I was at a point of facemask overflow. I had my ODT Yowies from a few years ago. I figured I was set for the season, then I started skiing with Will Burks. I went home to overcast park days, not the best situation to test a facemask. The few runs I did take in the Hood were nice though....
