If you’ve been keeping up with skiing recently you know that the SIA trade show just wrapped up. You’ve probably seen article after article highlighting the major brands' new lineups. I just spent the last few days helping make those articles. There are a lot of facemasks out there. They all claim to have some new revolutionary fabric or technology that makes them the best. When it comes down to it most face tubes are simply just that, face tubes....
Rossignol / Look The new WTR toe piece is the big news from Rossi / Look for ‘16. Other than that everything is the same as this year with new colorways. Looks much easier to adjust than any other WTR toe piece out there. Salomon The STH2 and Warden return unchanged besides color. I ski the STH2 and it I am very happy with it. Of course when you go from the 13 to the 16 you upgrade in durability....
It seems like every company is getting into the goggle business. There are so many different options out there it is overwhelming. For me it’s all about how the goggle looks. I’m not into all the fancy jargon, I like a simple but fresh goggle. These are my favorites of the show. I’m just waiting for someone to make a lens that looks like a beer can. Sad it’s over, but beyond stoked on the adventure and memories made in Japan! So beyond happy to have the support of my rad PNW brands!...
As many of you know, skiers like to party. Chug and 4bi9 have well documented their party antics in various webisodes among many other crews. Get turnt up to get learnt up right? The resorts that were desecrated were Boyne Mountain and Treetops Resort in Michgan. Tis but a scratch… Investigations continue in hopes of finding the perpetrators and both resorts are waiting on the results before pressing charges.
-Dinner at 5280 Burgers. They have alcoholic milkshakes and fancy looking fries. -We find out that we can get in to a neighboring hotel’s hot tub. Travis wears Peter’s cutoff kakis. -We test Erika’s new turtle shell. -We meet Hooligan Maloney, a homeless man without front teeth but a rap-god like flow. -Skullcandy party at the Hyat, they have a DJ but I really just want to sing karaoke. He seems to be the only person around who knows what Semi-rad is, stoke ensues....
SIA is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get. It might be a revolutionary new product from a leader of the industry. It could be an up and coming young brand looking to shake things up. It could be a well developed and refined class leader, or it could be just plain weird. This article is for the outliers. At Phoenix Park you’re able to ski until 4 in the morning. So it’s little wonder that the resort is going all-out to promote freestyle in Korea. “In Korea we don’t have freeski pros like in the U.S.A.,” XD explained. Korean-speaking skier and Level 1 Superunknown winner Mitchell Brower was a big hit with the locals. Meanwhile, Jonah Williams' group was busy learning how to get the proper speed to hit jumps....
