Pretty much every brand, large or small, makes a ski that aims to do it all. When I opened the box, the first thing that I noticed was that the topsheets are beautiful. The sidewall finish was smooth and I couldn’t find any kind of edge gaps. Very impressive for the first run out of a new factory. Topsheet shot, note the significant taper both tip and tail. They are stiffer than anything I’ve ever skied, which is marketed as a jibby ski....

What does this mean exactly? For me it is park armor. Now I know there have been several really large discussions/threads on Newschoolers about the importance of helmets while skiing. I don’t want to get into the helmet debate here. Helmets save lives, science and studies agree. As in, pretty much full body armor. Additionally it does not cause me to lose any range of movement as it is fit properly....

When Salomon first introduced the SPK in 2006 it was something really new in the world of park boots. It became a favourite with park riders who enjoyed the cushioning and padding not available in other boots. Last season when Salomon announced they were replacing the SPK with a new boot, reactions were mixed. One of the things which made the SPK popular was the relatively wide last of the boot at 104mm....
Things got rolling quickly in round 1, as Alex Ferreira set the bar high with a 90.25. His run was good enough for an 84, and fourth place after the first round. If there was any doubt he’s next in pipe skiing, he laid it to rest right there. Meanwhile Wise, not to be outdone by his junior, threw down a 94.75. When it was all said and done, Torin Yater-Wallace found himself on top of the podium once again....

Snowpark Niagara, in Niagara Falls NY of all places, held a surprisingly good rail jam in 2009. The grand prize was a trip to Windells, and the event drew a pretty big crowd. He was with someone else, probably his brother, who looked about 16. I look at this 12 year old and he looks fierce. He and his brother get to the top, and ski down just greasing the rails....
