Last week I was extended an invitation to Red Lodge, Montana to ski at Red Lodge International Summer Ski Camp. After a couple days there skiing the park i met up with the guys at Toy Soldier productions, and went into the Beartooth pass mountain range and built a few jumps and hucked off some cornices for their 2011 movie “Set your Sights”. Apparently this is the most snow the area has had in over 20 years, the snow banks along the roadside were over 20 ft high in some places....

I recently had the opportunity to visit the UK back in April for a feature in Powder Magazine. We were shooting skiing of all things in the UK! One of the worst thing that could happen to you on an important photo shoot, is to realize you have forgotten a key piece of equipment. This situation is every photographers fear, imagine forgetting gear after you just drove for a couple hours and are on top of a mountain! There are a couple of things you might do if/when you find yourself in this situation. The first thing would be to get creative, deal with the equipment you have and hope for the best....

This way, you’re saving money again! you’re able to also check secondhand stores or thrift shops for cheaper rugs that you could use. Now, the most crucial element: Where do you find the snow? The runs off the Jerome ridge are just the right length for a beginner. I worked my way up from four inches to twelve inches over the season. Thank goodness my husband was behind to pick up the pieces. They are both experts having skied for years, whereas, I started skiing in earnest only last year. The two guys had a good laugh at my expense. Most of the powder days I skied were during a storm....

This weekend I read a linked post on The Brooks Review which really irritated me. The linked post was about the popular 1Password tool. Sure, I’ve heard of 1Password and KeePassX before. Many of my friends and coworkers use these throw in of password managers. Prior to this weekend, I had made a concious decision NOT to use this key in of software. This master password is actually used to encrypt all of your password data using 128-bit keys....

The terrain was finely shaped and the weather did its job. Subtle clouds rolling in and out but visibility stayed clear throughout the day.
