Big Snow Arrives Tonight……

It will snow heavily tonight and all day Wednesday with snowfall rates that could exceed 3 inches per hour. Snow showers will continue Wednesday night with high snow to water ratios making for super light powder. By the Thursday morning snow report I am expecting storm totals of around 4-5 feet on top. Let’s see how this storm compares. Snow showers will continue off and on through Thursday night adding another 6-12 inches of light powder....

Drew Petersen enjoying Pow in Summit County.

We just got a great storm here in Summit County, Colordao. Last weekend was amazing! I trained with the Team Summit Big Mountain Team Saturday through Monday. The snow kept falling strong through Monday morning. We only saw the sun for about an hour on Sunday afternoon, but had another great powder day. We were still able to find untracked powder on Monday afternoon in our secret stash. This is the first of five stops on the 2011 Junior Freeskiing Tour....

On the road in Japan

I’m one week into a 2 week filming mission with Level 1 productions over in Hokkaido, the northern island of Japan. I’ve been dying to get back over to Japan since i used to live here and i leaped at this opportunity to get out here shooting in the backcountry. The days are long searching for the best quality fresh snow as we drive around in our little white van on the hunt for some fresh Japan powder....

David Wise is just getting started. Huge congrats are also in order for Brita Sigourney. In slopestyle, all eyes were on Bobby Brown. It’s Snowtime……

That should drop around 2 feet of additional snow on top of what we get Monday-Tuesday. Snow showers will continue Wednesday night and Thursday with snow ratios of 20:1. I’m expecting storm totals of around 3 feet by the Friday morning snow report. The GFS weather model is the outlier showing things clearing out for President’s weekend. The other models show another wave of snow for Friday and Saturday. Hopefully the models can come into some sort of agreement with the track of the storm today or tomorrow....

Creeking ? a pre-Dendrite short film

Years before Dendrite Studios was even an idea, co-founder, Nic, produced a short film with some buddies for the Telus Ski and Snowboard Festival filmmaker showdown. Shot and edited in 72 hours in 2007, the film titled Creeking was shown on the big screen in front of thousands. Entering the contest with the idea of creating a short on the act of moving up a creek was purely an excuse to have some fun and create art at the same time…....
