The art of courting a female in a small ski town is a skill few have mastered. This competition can lead to incredible frustration amongst males in the ski community. Occasionally, some males might look to the mountains to fix their frustrations, but it rarely happens. Fortunately, there are people like me who have failed again and again so the common man can succeed. Its best to have a friend make a warm introduction to get things off on the right foot....

Surgery Day Part two of my ACL diary begins with the surgery itself. I had a very talented and uncharacteristically caring surgeon in Dr Jonathan Bell at Wimbledon Clinics. Not bad going for a fairly major operation. The same goes for doing your physio immediately. Immediately after the operation, I could crutch around and bear weight on the injured leg. I was certainly feeling dozy/sick during the daytime the first few days....

Everyone loves a good pow day. There’s a sort of magic that comes with every flake of fresh snow. The vibes can be amazing on a pow day. Sometimes everyone is just stoked, sending cliffs or watching others from the lift. On the other hand sometimes they don’t. The hype that’s created by a good pow day and sometimes bring negatives. The snow might be deep, but the crowds can be as well....

Its New Years Eve and Im skinning uphill in the dark on a dead mans skis. Ive always loved used skis. First, it was out of necessity, and then later out of nostalgia. I feel the same way when I sell skis too. Im always tempted to tell the buyers more of their history than they want. Ill never sell my current touring skis, even once theyre well past their prime and are fully retired....

Jesper underscores two crises happening in freestyle skiing today. Xgames announcers would hyper-react with, “Wow! This guy is insane! He’s making history and inventing new tricks!” The competitors today aren’t just hucking things on a whim like in the past. These athletes have spent their entire lives training for the sport. Freestyle skiing has become increasingly about precision, much like gymnastics. This is the pinnacle of sport and the end-product of innovation....

Fast forward to 2021 Winter X Games in Aspen and the tables have turned. @a_pla5tic_bag&@r00kieboth agreed before it was over that Jesper was locked in to win. Jesper looked gutted from the result and it makes sense if you watched the event unfold. Go through his Youtube channel sometime and I guarantee your jaw will drop more than a few times. Sure, the short skis irk a lot of people…i.e....

It has certainly gone by fast, but today is the final day of X Games. Super Sunday kicked off with Men’s slopestyle, perhaps the most eagerly awaited event of the whole show. The men pulled the winning number out the bag this weekend when it came to start times and conditions. Henrik dropped out just before competing, gifting Woodsy an alternate spot. After a strong showing in Big Air last night, he looked super solid and smooth today too....
