I spoke to a gentleman who was volunteering his time to protect Perisher, NSW.

He said the CEO and GM have both been up there, personally helping prepare the mountain.

Jindabyne, the nearest town, is roughly 30 mins drive away through the national park.

The sad thing is this means the fire simply moved in a different direction to pose a threat elsewhere.

Some heavily fire affected areas on the south coast in NSW have been without electricity or phone reception.
