At each edition of the Newschoolers, the final award we give is to a legend of the sport.
Legends come in all shapes, sizes and personalities, and follow all kinds of career trajectories.
This year’s inductee, Andreas Hatveit, is another perfect example.
20 Years Ago, Andreas could be found on the cover of Poorboyz' classic masterpiece, War.
For a decade or more, Andreas remained amongst the creme de la creme of freeski talent.
Yet through it all, the spotlight never seemed a focus.
Andreas was clearly in it for the love of skiing, rather than any kind of fame.
Ultimately and arguably at the peak of his talents, he more or less vanished from the ski scene.
Occasional clips and rumors would surface, but they were few and far between.
He won the contest comfortably.
At the second edition, he repeated his success.
Half a decade on from the previous edition, TGP volume 7 dropped.
Clearly, despite his apparent absence, the Norwegian powerhouse hadn’t missed a beat.
Andreas, congratulations, and thank you for everything you’ve done in skiing.
We cant wait to see what is still to come.
