In town, however, were the Cariboo Blondes. Or simply, the Blondes....

The event was presented by Newschoolers, Alpine Initiatives, and generously hosted by Whistler Blackcomb. The day began in Function Junction, where I was to retrieve a flagpole from the Momentum office. The old one was twelve feet tall, Doug Bishop had explained. We used to call it getting flagged, when you got to the top. He was basically the nicest dude ever though, and an exceptional coach. Chris Turpin, 1st Hit....
The women’s lineup consisted of Sofia Tchernetsky, Elena Gaskell, Yuki Tsubota, & Nikki Blackall. Skiing in the rain made for some interesting conditions but that didn’t stop the competitors from throwing down.
Along with adding Audi to the event, this year it will take place at the Tiefenbachferner Glacier at Solden Ski Resort in Tyrol, Austria. If you’re in the area, be sure to check out the public contest day on April 14th (More details areavailable here). The course is not only one of a kind but is being lapped by some of the best ski athletes in the world. The madness has only just begun, in fact Candide has only just shown up so expect it to get even madder....
The East Coast is known for its thrills…. mostly in moody weather changes. The furthest squad, Les Khroniques du Quebec crew, drove 14 hours from Quebec. Big Boulder park crew did an incredible job hosting us. They took us to Pocono Raceway, giving us a private tour of one of Nascar’s finest tracks. Oh yea, and they built us an absolute banger park to say the least. Big ups to Pat Morgan for pulling everything together and making it happen....

Its a great fit to host the event as Whistler meant so much to JP. It will allow a broader audience to celebrate the legacy of JP and grow the awareness around Alpine Initiatives. Looking back, this may serve as a breakout year for many. That said, the amount of content that we see coming from these skiers is still next to none. But what does it take to start your own business in the ski industry? I caught up with Karl Bekkala, founder of Thetrainpark, a tow-rope glove company based in Minnesota. Thats where they had the idea to take on making a product that would. Their biggest piece of advice for aspiring entrepreneurs? Tell people you’re doing it, and make your business visible. If you keep it quiet there’s no hype and no consequence for giving up....
