Why?

Here is a link to part 1 “What? For a long time I simply took pictures because I wanted to remember things. This has led my motivation to take pictures through an interesting journey. I had a motivation to shoot stills. I went to the mountain with the goal of taking good photos. I spent less time skiing and more time shooting. I think this one is kind of cool too....

Confessions of a Ski Bum: Part 5

Lately I’ve been in a vicious cycle where I wonder what I am doing with my life. Just like with anything though, if you aren’t growing, things tend to lose their appeal. A mountain top in the backcountry is a very powerful place. The word freedom is almost an understatement. On November 9th, 2013 NS member ‘Lou.’ made this thread:http://www.newschoolers.com/ns/forums/readthread/thread_id/763563/asking how to stay motivated to keep trying after taking hit after hit....

Skiing in a Pros Pocket: Brady Perron

Brady Perron is an underlying force in the styles we see on skis today. Possibly the guy that rhymes with Mmkay took on board the ideas that Brady has spread through his skiing. An underlying sense of being free. Travelling is in his blood and so is sliding down snow. I haven’t gotten rid of the poles fully. I just don’t use them in the park all too often partly because of my ski style…...

Sochi: Why Am I Still Here?

In actuality, I had a fantastic time. At the moment, I can’t wait to get on the airplane. My flight is headed to Istanbul and I couldn’t be happier. I’m drinking a beer right now to celebrate. The events are done. The hotels have emptied. For the most part, it’s already become another Russian ghost town. On my last post, I was a bit worried about writing updates. I know of two volunteers that were kindly asked to remove their blogs....

What?

What makes someone a Photographer? Do you become a Photographer when you start watermarking your photos? When you buy an interchangeable lens camera? When you make a business facebook page for yourself? Or is Photographer a state of mind? Going into this season I knew I wasn’t a Photographer. I was planning on skiing a lot and making a lot of videos. This is one of the only still images I took away from last season....
