Mind The Drop – Part 2 (NS Journalism entry)

Part 2 Dropping into a sparsely covered, side-country booter. Why havent I researched a better weather app for Sweden? I am sure my French friends partied until 730 or 8. Waking up around 9 this morning brought quite a surprise. Nothing serious, but enough to get outside. After chiefing one of the dirtiest spliffs with blondie, I grabbed my planks and headed out. Thus, my lip was about as sketchy as my memories of last night....

Peace.

We arise to three feet of fresh snow, and the parking lot has yet to be plowed. One of my friends decides to take the tree-line, the other takes straight to the face. We unload the chair, and depart our separate way’s after a quick fist-bump all around. My mind, my body, everything is completely at peace. My skis turn straight down the mountain, and I drop in. I settle my speed, and thrown a slow three to get a full view of the landscape....

Japan. The Good, The Bad and the Ugly... But pretty much all good!

The first thing you think of about skiing in Japan is DEEP POWDER, amazing culture and great food. Well, yes, Japan is all that and more, the place is simply incredible. Luckily for us, the last 2 days brought in 40cm new snow so that 3m mark was hit. 17 days and 3m of snow… that’s crazy! Its not always all fun and games though. For 2 days straight we were shut off the slopes because winds were too strong....

The NS Gathering at Loon, NH

The Crew We brought the whole gang down to NH. From Newschoolers.com Jason Mousseau, Sam Turner, Aaron Lu and Travis Towsley made the trip. Stept filmer/Loon Loc Connor Scofield also joined us for some Friday night shenanigans and shredding. The most important member of the Newschoolers crew was, of course, the newly-returned Drama Llama....

GTNS- Newschoolers Meet!

It was hands down the best day I have spent skiing so far. I arrived at the mountain nice and early, and wandered my way to the Paul Bunyan room. I managed to beat the NS crew there, and only NS user Nacho_Macho_Man managed to beat me there. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FeaKovEu9FM After getting my videos shot, I headed back down to the lodge. I could see the llama on the deck from a mile away....

Mind The Drop(NS Journalism Entry)

Part 1 Nick Goepper dropping on the Olympic slopestyle course. Looking straight ahead, I can see the official listening to his radio. I wonder what he sees down there. In my field of vision lie the first two rail features and the lip of the first jump. Seeing this calms my nerves, but also reminds me of what the next 60 seconds will bring. The days of lapping Perfect North seem like they may have been in another lifetime....
