While it was officially a contest, the event felt more like a reunion of skiers from across Quebec. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves so much during the event. It felt like friends skiing together, and there happened to be a crowd in the background. It was sick to see people were already throwing down hard in practice....
Hurricane Bakuriani had subsided somewhat, revealing a decent slopestyle course. Ruby Andrews didn’t quite have the speed down but her run showed promise, and style too. She still stomped her tricks though, so the score dock down to 65 seemed incredibly harsh. 270 to switch at the bottom was swag too and she took the lead. One of the steeziest women’s runs ever too. Sarah Hoefflin sent it for the win but unfortunately went too big on the first of two switch dubs....
The final ski event of Dew Tour this year was Women’s Super Streetstyle and super it certainly was. Right from the off, the ladies were crushing despite the falling snow and bad vis. Lisa Zimmerman set the early bar and she really is fucking good… The ski industry really did her a disservice back when. Great skiing and even better vibes, the camaraderie is second to none. Shonny Charbonneau was slaying but took a huge hit on the final rail to wallride....
It was a tough sell for Dew Tour this year with World Championships happening simultaneously in Georgia. Hunter Hess stomped a 16. Enough for provisional second though. The switch alleyoop dub up top, and the amplitude were the factors that moved him ahead for sure. Run 4: Ben Harrington sent it but didn’t keep it clean. Hunter Hess landed too deep on his first hit so it was a scratch....
Charley Agers come and gone. Speculation about Adam Delormes current whereabouts populates the Newschoolers forums. Yet, with every rule, theres an exception. Truck Talk is a collaborative vision dreamt up by Hornbeck and Casabon. The films title was happenstance. When Casabon arrived in Michigan, he hopped into Hornbecks truck and started filming with his iPhone. I just pulled out my phone in the truck first thing because Mike is an entertaining character....
Volkl is 100 years old this year, and as milestones go, it’s a pretty big one. It took 175 days. The Volkl story starts in Straubing, Germany, and the name is that of the Volkl family. The early skis were called Vostras, a contraction of Volkl Straubing. It helps that the new Revolt skis, from the 90 to the 121 are ridiculously fun. Jib League arrives and MDV is one of the first brands on board....
So Im over studying in Norway for a semester. More than that, Im missing a community here. Ive learned a few things over the past few weeks. One, Im super super suuuuuuper f*cking privileged. Having an awesome resort twenty minutes from my front door at home is not common. It requires an incredible investment of time and money, one I am really grateful my parents have made. Two, it is lonely as hell to not have like minded people around me....

I am an avid amateur who likes to think he skis somewhat well. The FWT is a massive operation. It is awesome to watch. But, to explain the present issue, we first must talk about how we got here. Back in the day freeride was crazy in a different way than it is today. It was about skiing the gnarliest lines, as fast as you could, with control. The broom closet double hit by Drew Stoecklein and Lars Chickering Ayers at the end is ridiculous....

Its been a while since my last post. I’ve met Andy a few times on LTC and have always enjoyed his honesty and candidness. I hope you all enjoy this short read! What have you been up to for the last few years in skiing and in life? During the summers I have been doing random construction work when I can. A question Ive asked you in person before, but I want to ask again....
With that in mind, it held up remarkably well. Among others, they have worked with Rossignol and Movement skis. Simply is their first in-house brand, and the 100mm underfoot Recreation is their very first ski. On paper, these are relatively simple skis. I believe it might have been Oak. Whatever it was, it felt bomber when I mounted the skis. The wood is also locally sourced, as are many elements used in the production at First Track....
