On Aug 13th we had our 2nd annual Iron Mountain Rail Jam. The rail jam is a part of our 6th annual Summer Snow Day event. A block party key in event that we host at our Shop in Central Pennsylvania. We are still counting up numbers, but had well over 2,000 people in attendance this year. This year we ran both our permanent setup as well as our portable setup....
First event, Philadelphia Summer Snow Day! This year we took our Summer Snow Day on the road to Philly! The day started out pretty warm and snow was melting fast. We held some snow to replenish the setup for finals. And we got lucky with some cloud cover rolling in to slow down the melting. It started to drizzle as soon as we wrapped up finals! This being Newschoolers, we wanted to do things properly for our audience. The parks were on point too and we had quick laps to give each park ski a good thrashing. With just a week, we couldn’t do much to test durability. One final note is that we have assigned skis to the category WE think they best fit. That means we have a 107mm underfoot park ski and a 95mm all-mountain ski....
When you go skiing in Colorado, that makes perfect sense, you see a lot of them around. The interesting thing is the apparent versatility of these sticks. However, two things really surprised me about the 105. The first, small surprise is that its pretty stiff. The tail in particular, is pretty solid. But the biggest surprise is in a 181 length, it isnt even close to a 105mm ski. As such, I was expecting a performance more akin to an ARV 106 or Sir Francis Bacon....

From the outside, it looks rustic, raw, and unforgiving. These bunks have been home to some of the most authentic ski bums that this world has seen. It is about 25 feet from the best skiing this country has to offer, in Alta, Utah. The work is like any other customer service job, just here, the location is far better. We dont make the big bucks, but that isnt what drew us to this place....
They truly are exciting and different, and the Pass is no exception. By my measure, there is 28cm of tip rocker length and 27cm of tail rocker. Tip and tail height stand at just 55mm. Most modern park skis have more rocker than that, as does Seasons narrowest ski, the Kin. The tips/tails have a medium amount of taper and measure in at 147mm/144mm respectively. Theres also a generous amount of camber underfoot....
