The format and vibe stayed largely the same, if it aint broke… The event is organised byAlpine Initiatives; the organization founded by JP himself. He was an incredible human being with an infectious personality.
Volkl has also used the new skis to provide a canvas for artists in the community to work on. Its great to see them pushing high-quality, functional, and innovative ski designs through Built Together. Their involvement is what makes Built Together special for both the athletes and consumers. I trust in all my Volkl teammates and am proud to develop and test these skis together with them. Being able to shape the new models was huge....
I looked up to Ahmet a lot when I was a kid. In fact, I told him this right off the rip. For those wondering, “Why did you give him a platform?”… If you listen to his words, I truly don’t think there is any intention to cause harm. I wish the best to Ahmet, and I hope listeners can take something positive home from this interview.
But, occasionally, an old friend from those formative years calls me out of retirement. And waiting on my desk was a pile of sticky notes with hastily scribbled reminders on them. So Friday afternoon I sat down and started putting some ideas onto sticky notes. Just making ideas physical. So here you go! My mind has run wild at my keyboard. I haven’t worked around other creatives in a long while....
Three skiers crossing the bridge with their dogs hear the distinctive call. Plenty of people talk about how spring has a special smell, but it has a soundtrack too. Red-winged blackbird warbles over the sound of snowmelt signal an imminent end to ski season. The skiers dont really mind. Theyre ready to ride bikes, chase packrafts down river. Up at the ski hill everyone is already in full spring skiing mode....
The 11th year of Master Shredder is in the books. What started as an unusually cold Spring day, things quickly heated up on Trollhaugen’s, Tomte rope. Front and center at the ski area: the Midwest’s finest talent was on display.
So the next best thing, combine an interview with the skiing. The idea progressed over time and soon enough we were out shooting! We spent time with Ahmet Dadali, Julien Regnier, Jackie Paaso & Simon Dumont(!) I really liked shooting every episode but most of all with Julien. He was never the superstar or stood on top of the podium but he was a pioneer. An originator and pushed filming, having a crew and building features to shoot....

This situation is symptomatic of a greater challenge that anyone who backcountry skis in a popular area faces. More people are skiing bigger lines than ever before. And having other backcountry travelers above or below you adds another layer of risk to an already risky pursuit. Its not a secret. So we werent surprised when we caught up to another group. They were moving slowly, breaking trail in a little fresh snow....
This year, I had one resolution and it was to step out of my confort zone. So after k2, armada, and line I decided to try faction. I bought them, slapped my marker griffon and headed to the mountain. And what a shock, these twigs are a fu***ing orgasm to ride!! So light, poppy, and men can they charge! And this is why I was so disapointed when after only 20 days of skiing this happened… And that made me think about one of the first grippe I had with these skis....
The Kin changes that and ticks the soft, twin tip box. The core is Karuba, and the base is a sintered 7500 base (AKA a Race Base). But where things get really interesting is the shaping. The flex is very consistent throughout the ski with no hinge point or obvious stiffening in the center. you’re free to see that in the core profile, which is quite thin underfoot. Theyre a bit of a frankenski (sorry Moment) and were very intriguing to test....
