After his final X Games appearance, last weekend, will the Olympics be his last contest? You said you admired skiers that do everything, so what made you settle on competing in the pipe? I never wanted to choose. In 2014 I did it. They were like; Congratulations, youre going to Sochi for Halfpipe and Slopestyle. I was so ecstatic. A few days later, they took back my halfpipe spot and gave it to Torin Yater-Wallace....

I’m just a guy out there to impress his fiance and have a really good time. The elevation definitely has its effect on the resort. The resort is more wide open and has few trees around the runs. The resort is not by any means a hard resort. This resort is extremely beginner friendly with very few runs that scare/intimidate people. There are little to no runs that require you to turn or pace down at all....

But, with this freedom comes responsibility. Ski patrol is not around to help you if you get into a sticky situation or are injured. My partners and I had to manage a self-rescue and gained a lot of insight through it. We found what we were looking for, a mellow 200-foot slope with no overhead hazard. One of my touring partners for the day mentioned it being the best snow he had ever skied....

What follows is the resulting chronicle of a winter in the Tetons. Opening day was rough. I was out of shape, and the snow was terrible. Early season touring was weird and sketchy and thin, pretty typical. I owned a minivan this winter, and I used every excuse to include it. Sometimes I miss that Sienna. This day could have been shitty, but wasn’t. Also, watching Dan (a very competent snowboarder) learn how to ski pow was great....

It was a pretty big change of vibe from but another insane display of skiing. The live performance from Ferg just prior to the drop definitely built the hype. _ Run 1: Ben Harrington opened the event with a high octane run. Nico Porteous brought the (first ever?) switch dub 14 to play but had a couple of issues through the run which killed his score. Blunck sent 5 dubs again, cleaned up his grabs and took the lead....

Photo: Joshua Duplechian/ESPN X Games has been a strange affair this year. The women were condemned to Big Air in a snowstorm. Run 2: The second run saw a couple more riders put things together. Both the jumps and rails were heaters, but some slight bobbles kept him back in third. Evan McEachran had two 3-up variations in his run but crashed on the final run. Run 4: With the pressure on, we had a few bobbles yet again....

X Games Big Air is always a spectacle and this years iteration was no different. The start list was still full of heat and the boys brought it big time. This one was an absolute classic… and so hard to keep up with. Runs were rattled through and totalled 6 per rider by the conclusion of things. Teal Harle dropped his switch triple 14 pulled back to twelve earning a strong 40....

It wasn’t a great look for the contest. Run 2 saw Johanne Killi stomp a switch dub 10, tickled the grab. Tess Ledeux attempted to seriously raise the bar with a dub 16 attempt. Johanne Killi cleaned up her switch dub 10. Tess Ledeux stomped a flawless dub 12 to improve her commanding lead by one. Olivia Asselin rounded out her contest with a sick dub 12 blunt but slightly dragged her hands....

The weatherman said that it might snow tomorrow, but the moose grazing in the alders knows better. Their turns back down to the valley floor are louder, crustier than usual, but theyre safer too. No avalanches unload on them, no cornices fall, prompting sympathetic slopes to fail. Death still lurks in the snowpack but its buried deep. Facets dance under feet of snow, marbles stacked beneath tons of water. Theyve held out for over a month now, singing danger to anyone who dares delve too deep....

I could tell you every trick from every persons video part and tell you contest runs and results. I just was obsessed with it. I loved it so much. Which skiers did you look up to in those early days? People like Tanner Hall, Simon Dumont, Candide Thovex, Jossi Wells, and Jon Olsson....

Its quite a long one, so Ill leave this intro at that. Shape/Flex/Construction The 1000 Park has a fairly typical construction for a modern park ski. Wood core (poplar), a capped sidewall construction, and sintered bases. The shape of the ski is actually fairly traditional, 1000 certainly havent tried to reinvent the wheel here. The flex of the ski is definitely soft both in terms of longitudinal flex and torsional flex....
