Peeing in the mountains is great, but maybe don’t do it in the few places where everyone travels?
First place qualifier Tess Ledeux. Three variations of nines and a solid rail run were enough to take a commanding lead. Run two saw much improved conditions and a corresponding step up in the level. Say what you like, he’s a monster. Second last to drop, Valentin Morel delivered a style clinic. Capped grabs, stomped landings and a high risk front swap pretz two on the final transfer rail. Score seemed low but then again, the tricks perhaps lacked some technicality....
Gavin Rudy first picked up his dads camera when he was around 10 years old. With that camera, he and his friends put together stop motion clips, and made action movies. They used AfterEffects for the muzzle flashes, and airsoft guns as props. Not a whole lot got finished. I just didnt have a vision, Gavin told me, with a laugh. The basics learned in these formative years led to an intermingling with another of Gavins interests, skiing....
Its fair to say that 2021 probably wasnt that productive for most of us. That definitely cant be said for Kiwi teenager Nico Porteous. Nico doing his customary ‘Shoey’ celebration, but will we see it in Beijing? I first caught up with Nico in Crans Montana, at Audi Nines last April. I was really excited to get back in the start gate and to start competing again. We had an awesome winter down south in New Zealand in 2020....
Backcountry skiing Instagram is the pits, literally. There are so many stories of skiers digging pits and slapping snow posted every day all winter. But Im not convinced. Realistic companion rescue practice sucks. Its hard, physically, mentally, and emotionally. I know a lot of people who brag about how many pits they dig each time they go out. Companion rescue is not. Thats how teaching introductory classes works. So theyre not trying to create a stressful and realistic training situation....
It is a reasonably stiff ski but softer than theCandide 1.0I also reviewed, by a fair distance. In terms of flex the Prodigy sits somewhere around7 - 8 - 7.5through the ski. The most real skiing I got on these was when we got a surprise 6(10? Here these shone, they are stable and poppy. I learnt a bunch of rail tricks on these and the poplar/ash core makes them energetic....
Only, capable, well compensated, happy employees can do that. You have a strong back, and are willing to put your nose to the grindstone. Then, after doing a few rounds of this exercise the ski area can open. These injuries could be anything from a papercut to an open compound femur fracture. You will be tired, you will be exhausted at the end of some days. Think thats too much?...

The final World Cup event before the Olympics went down this weekend in Mammoth. Essentially handing the Canadian Brendan Mackay the Crystal Globe for the season. A huge canon or rainbow to set up the speed for the booters. With spots to Beijing to play for this was set to go off. Women Run 1 Caroline Claires opened things up, her switch 5 high safety was perfect. Coming off a top rail early and wiffing a grab docked her first run score a bit....
Over the years one of the most common messages I receive via DM or email is “Yo! Can you draw me a tattoo!?!” Occasionally, I’ll get the less common but more entertaining “Hey! I got your art tattooed without asking and had the artist do some weird edits! Look at this poorly-lit picture of my calf!” So here’s the deal.
