This led them to release their first official film, Pink Duct Tape, the following year. This is the kind of event we love to see and it blows us away every year....
Format Quick breakdown of the format, we have 2 60 minute jam heats. Scores are based on best run in 3 scored attempts. Skiers were allowed to call their lap otherwise they would be in a practice"/unjudged run. The top 20 from the heats move on into the finals, 60 minute jam best trick. In the finals its the single best trick. Any rail goes, do your best. Top 6 of the finals move into the super final!...
Well, exciting, interesting, something like that. That said, the level of skiing was bonkers. Sunshine and great conditions greeted the riders though and the event was definitely a show to remember. Flora Tabenelli just snuck a switch dub 10 safety around, but it was a little short too. Enough for 79 but the judges clearly wanted to see more amplitude. Is she unbeatable right now? Speed had turned up a notch, with Anouk in particular going absolutely huge....

Through it all, he has some pretty strong views about skiing. including an incident on NS and generally has a really refreshing take on where things are going. Im from a small town called Ivalo, which is super far north. Its a small-ass town, I think there are like 3000 people living there. Thats what he meant because Im not from where most people come to the sport. We have good slopes and everything....

At each edition of the Newschoolers, the final award we give is to a legend of the sport. Legends come in all shapes, sizes and personalities, and follow all kinds of career trajectories. This year’s inductee, Andreas Hatveit, is another perfect example. 20 Years Ago, Andreas could be found on the cover of Poorboyz' classic masterpiece, War. For a decade or more, Andreas remained amongst the creme de la creme of freeski talent....
Jurys Pick at the Newschoolers Awards is our most amorphous category. In one regard, it does exactly what it says on the tin. Thats the easy bit. Defining what we are looking for is slightly more complicated. This year there were a bunch of great movies that fit the bill. We all enjoyed Dylan Siggers crew movie Spliff and Stasis, featruing Svea Irving by Griffin Glendinning. But ultimately, the winners had to be our unspoken ‘runners up from last year, the Simply....
But for this award, we had a split between two athletes with fairly similar resumes. Tereza Korobova has been quietly on a mission for years now, but this one was pretty special. Ultimately though, this came down to two previous winners of this award, Anni Karava and Taylor Lundquist. From that start point, it was difficult to split them. Ultimately, in a split decision, we called it. Our Skier Of The Year is… TAYLOR BROOKE LUNDQUIST....
X Games Day 3 is here and it’s been a wild ride so far. Switch 270 to regs, and a back 3 swap to forwards on the rainbow was nuts. Woulda been the highlight of the weekend. Olivia chilled out her final rail hit, back swap (not 3 swap). Jumps: 720 to unnatty 900, switch 540 on the money booter. This gave her an 81.66 and the bubble spot. She didn’t qualify....
