Goodbye Old friends

Earlier this season, I skied my trusty Fatypus D Sender 194s for the last time. They came with DVD copies of The Hitlist, Higher Ground, and a letter from the owner. I thought I’d be injured for sure on one of those, but somehow I was just fine. I remember losing a ski on a powder day jumping off a cliff I stomped twice the week prior. They explained that nobody else rides Fatypus skis like those at Snowbird....

I don’t really love skiing

I woke up excited to go skiing. I just wanted to go drink mimosas in the sun. But one of the guys in our group wasnt done yet, he was gung-ho to ski some more. So he went and cranked out two more laps on a safer slope. And as I drove home I couldnt help thinking: That guy really loves skiing more than I do. Immediately followed by well, thats not that surprising, I dont really love skiingthatmuch....

Don't call it a comeback!

Looking down the start list, you may have been pleasantly surprised to spot the name, Jossi Wells. The ESPN crew reached out with an invite for Knuckle huck. Of course, I was going to accept it. Ive always loved to be at X Games and thought itd be a cool thing to do. He wasnt giving anything away, in terms of what we can expect: I dont have anything planned....

The Bunch's latest movie shows they are leading the way on environmentalism as well as skiing.

All photos by Alric Ljunghager ‘Is There Time For Matching Socks’ is The Bunchs seventh movie. Then a company calledGoClimatetranslated all of that into Co2 emissions. The emissions from the movie totaled 41 tons of carbon emissions. But is 40 good, bad, or average for a ski movie? No skier is under any illusion that the sport is environmentally friendly. And Magnus tells me it was hard to find other projects this year that had numbers for their emissions....

It’s just Peeing

Its all just one long battle against urine. And while that is a very valid frustration, theres more to it. I lived three hours from the nearest resort, and we had a whole routine built around peeing. And then theres the eternal boot dilemma. Of course, thats never convenient. Putting on ski boots means you better navigate slippery stairs and tiled bathrooms in your clunky plastic boots. Thats two urine related delays before youre even on the hill....

The Failed Experiment

Sitting on my unusually small couch, I looked at the time: 1:15 PM. I sighed and picked up the remote and confirmed that I was still watching Netflix. I let the next episode of The Office roll. And the next one after that. And the one after that too. After five more episodes I looked at my phone again: 3:45 PM. No new texts, no new phone calls. It was mid November and I had little motivation to do anything....

5 Tricks That Will Improve Your Rail Game

Rail skiing is my favorite aspect of park skiing. K-fed Once youve learned front switch-ups, k-feds are the next step. You want to set your switch up harder than you would if you were to come out switch. You want to land your switch up on your toes, and do your k-fed in one motion. Whats fun about that trick is you’ve got the option to really go gradually about it....

Southern Pa Park Crew Budget So Low Their Jealous of Urban Crews

A mountain in Pennsylvania is facing a rather common set of circumstances this year, lack of budget. After hearing about the predicament facing this mountain we had to learn more. Naturally we spoke with the general manager to get his take on the budget. Our conversation ended very abruptly as he sped away in his 50 thousand dollar car. The park crew surprisingly was very happy and optimistic. Being hired as rookies this year, they had no idea what was in store for them....

Mount Bohemia and the Death of "Wild" Resorts

This is a little long-winded, so I apologize in advance. This story begins with Mount Bohemia. With good snow, it is truly the best skiing to be had in the midwest. Boho and a dwindling number of resorts limited infrastructure resorts are in a class of their own. Unfortunately, this isn’t going to be a happy article praising Boho. So let’s just jump into it. Recently, Boho went to Instagram to get the thoughts of their patrons on adding snowmaking and grooming....
