After staying up late last night I heard about the passing of Sarah Burke.

She crashed in the superpipe at Park City on January 10th and was taken to hospital immediately.

Unfortunately, one of freeskiing’s best talents passed away at 9.22am yesterday morning.

She was training for upcoming winter events.

Studies in the University of Utah Hospital Emergency Department indicated that she retained brainstem function.

She was placed on life support and a protocol of therapeutic hypothermia was initiated to protect her brain.

Sarah passed away peacefully surrounded by those she loved.

Our thoughts go out to Sarah’s family and friends at this time.

She was a great skier with so much more to give.

Rest in peace, Sarah.
