2011 Powder Magazine Photo Annual Cover – Skier: Kyler Cooley. My first Powder cover came last season (see it here) and it was a big deal. A real big deal for me. Literally a childhood dream. Needless to say, I’m pretty happy about it! As it turned out, I liked the ambient light shot a lot better, and so did Powder. Here’s a few more photos I have in the Photo Annual....
This semester, we had a trial student join us from Quebec City. Alex Beaulieu-Marchand, 16 shares his experiences with the Academy. WA: Alex, you?ve joined us all the way from Quebec City, Canada! What brings you to Windells Academy? Alex: ?This summer I came to Windells Camp to ski. During my session I had Coach Liam Downey who told me about Windells Academy. A little earlier out this morning. 11 am on top of the Backyard-park. -18 C and sunny! I think I had 30 runs non-stop. Supergood to feel that I am on top of my game for once. Jumping is MY thing, that s for sure. Rails are fun, but it was by the jumps I learned to ski first! Gotta run to the gym and finish it off with a little stretching
I’m pretty stoked my photo fit it rather perfectly. Check it out if you get a chance.
I failed. I will get some editing done over Christmas. Brighton received something like 50" of snow the week of Thanksgiving. It made for some excellent skiing. Every lift on the mountain was open by Thanksgiving day. That does not happen often. What else does not happen often? The high temperature that day was -1F. With wind chill it was dipping down closer to -27F....
If you said A, you definately have to mention B. Well here it is, my turn to be behind the camera, and PK s skiing. He s camera is better than mine, fun-run!
Man if feels good to see my name on the start list and finish list. Even if its not number one I am totally stoked! Its unreal what this last week has felt like. So fun, scary, nervous but really really happy. I raced more than I have in the last three years in just three days. I could barely get out of bed this morning I was so tired....
Short lap through backyard park in Hafjell. Pk Hunder behind the camera. Enjoy!
