ALWAYS Sarah Burke died on Jan 19, 2102. What color lens do you use in heaven anyway?
After staying up late last night I heard about the passing of Sarah Burke. She crashed in the superpipe at Park City on January 10th and was taken to hospital immediately. Unfortunately, one of freeskiing’s best talents passed away at 9.22am yesterday morning. She was training for upcoming winter events. Studies in the University of Utah Hospital Emergency Department indicated that she retained brainstem function. She was placed on life support and a protocol of therapeutic hypothermia was initiated to protect her brain....

Big storm was supposedly headed our way. The jet is on us and it looked promising for last night. The blob NOAA showed us coming in from the Northwest made giddy as a schoolgirl. Huge and dipping below AK towards us, finally in a more west to east pattern. I went to bed with powder dreams dancing in my head. All bark no bite. A reoccurring theme this year, not sure how NOAA got it so wrong....
If I was heading out I was going to make damn sure I was in good company. Spooky day all around. The constant sound of the bombs tossed by Vail Ski patrol resonated over the howling ridge top winds. The bruised, purple grey clouds thickened and lowered all day over the scoured moonscape of the Gore. Small tendrils of snow touched the tops of the peaks, but nothing from the predicted blizzard yet....
Yesterday was the first day skiing with Kim, Lasse and Lars. A little windy, but fun! There are so many rails and jumps in just one lap that you get exhausted pretty fast. Breakfast with Shred’n Breakfast. Egg’s & Bacon all the way, American style. Lars looking mighty fine. We had to get some food, since our fridge was all empty. I am pretty sure Lasse agreed. Lasse was the Chef for team A....
Windy in Breck today. We got a little snowfall over night, so jumping was kind of sketchy to times. Why the sceptical look LAsse?
We have had visitors from all around the world stop by our little bodega in the middle of nowhere.

Sunset shot from the Saddle of the Demo Van. “You don’t leave Jackson Hole during a storm.” That, and if I was having any more fun I’d just be greedy. More than meets the eye. Before I got to Jackson Hole I did a demo stop at Lost Trail. Lost Trail is a smaller locals hill on the Montana/Idaho border. Filled with fixed grip chairs, flannels, and plenty of powder, Lost Trail kicks ass....
Don’t forget all users of the Main Terrain Park require a Park Pass. Brimacombe Park Passes are just $10 plus tax and you must be 8 years of age or older. All those under the age of 18 must have their waivers signed by a parent or legal guardian. Stay tuned for more updates. The approximate cost of a new quad chair is $1.6 million. Bring someone new to BrimacombeDo you know someone who would love skiing or snowboarding at Brimacombe?...
Research and development is a process fraught with danger and delight but someone has to be involved in the process. Someone has to test out all of the brand new gear and when that new gear is the Salomon Guardian binding, that means taking it out on the snow and putting it through its paces. The three people stepping up to the plate for the job are Chris Rubens, Elyse Saugstad and Kim Havell as they travel to the Selkirk Mountains in BC....
